Wanda Catoe distributed the following announcement regarding Bennett Law’s retirement earlier this week:

Bennett Law

As is often said, “All Good Things Must Come to an End” and with that, I want to congratulate Bennett Law on his well-deserved retirement effective June 30, 2021!

Bennett has been with NLG for more than 39 years.  He joined our Actuarial Department in 1982 as an actuarial student after earning a B.S. in Mathematics from the University of Vermont and an M.S. in Actuarial Science from the University of Nebraska.  With the support of NLG’s actuarial student program, Bennett attained Fellowship in the Society of Actuaries in 1988 and was appointed Assistant Actuary.

In 1990 he became our Policy Forms Director, a position he held for 17 years.  Over the next seven years Bennett applied his learnings and led many diverse NLG business areas including Forms Management, Mail Center, Print Shop, Records Management, Licensing & Contracting, Commissions, Agent Services, Transformation, Web Strategy and Digital Marketing.   Bennett made his final move into NLIT in 2014, where he currently serves as IT Application Domain Head for Inforce.

Additional highlights of Bennett’s time with NLG include his participation in a Management Development Task Force that led to a stint as a peer educator through The People Center, assistance in creating  NLG’s Career Preparedness Program (CP2) to help develop associates in entry-level Operations positions, his long tenure serving on our Benefits Investment and Administration Committee, and his serving for many years as a member of NLG’s initial Culture Team.  Bennett was also the proud 2016 recipient of the Seven C’s award for Character.   Bennett has learned so much over the decades, and he is always eager to share his experiences with all of us as “Professor Law”.  This has definitely made us a better team today and for that I am truly grateful!

Please join me in congratulating Bennett on reaching this milestone and wishing him well in retirement.  While we will sincerely miss him on the NLG team, we know this is well deserved.  Thanks for all that you have done for National Life, the team and me personally.  Congratulations on your journey forward!

I am also excited to announce the resulting next iteration of our IT Applications Team.  Jagan Kandunuri will take on the role of Domain Head for Inforce Applications reporting to me.  Fernando Viana will take on additional responsibilities for managing Five 9 and Correspondence as part of the Digital Domain head role that he currently leads.  And Rajmohan Nalumuru will serve as interim Domain Head for Product and Illustrations reporting to me.  Please join me in congratulating Jagan, Fernando and Rajmohan regarding these new roles & assignments to be effective June 30, 2021.

Thanks,

Wanda Catoe
