Attention CIG: CP2 is Back!

 

 

 

 

We’re excited to re-introduce the Career Prep Program for employees working in the Customer Innovation Group (CIG). 

Leadership within National Life is committed to supporting our employees as they cultivate the skills needed to advance in the organization.  The Career Prep Program (CP2) has been designed specifically to assist entry level (1-3 yrs.) employees in CIG to become “candidates of choice” for positions in this organization.

As a participant in the program CP2 students will be paired with a mentor from the organization that will help them navigate culture, help support them in their LOMA studies, and guide them to choose job shadowing opportunities that will develop their skills to help them become candidates of choice for open positions in the organization.

What are the prerequisites for participating in this program?

Candidates for this program will be selected based on key criteria:

  • Entry level employee with 1-3 years working at National Life.
  • Demonstration of a positive attitude towards work and the culture, loves collaboration
  • Openness to coaching
  • Commitment to personal and professional development
  • Adherence to the Servant Leadership Tenets

What would I do as a participant in this program?

Participants will embark on a career preparedness program that includes the following elements:

  • One-on-one coaching from supervisor/manager
  • One-on-one coaching from an assigned mentor
  • NL University training
  • Setting the Stage for Career Success
  • DISC
  • Process Mapping
  • Building your Personal Brand
  • Business Acument
  • Communicating with Confidence & Effective Listening Skills
  • GPGS Customer Experience
  • Writing Effective Email
  • Resume Preparation & Interview Skills
  • Pursuit of knowledge of NLGroup’s business, specifically by taking LOMA classes
  • Job Shadowing within the organization

CP2 participants must demonstrate a commitment to their personal development by actively participating in training’s and development opportunities provided through the program.  They will be expected to pay particular attention to their professionalism in their current positions as well as during all interactions associated with the program.  Free and open communication between participants and their managers and mentors will be required for continued success.

How long will I remain in this program?

The CP2 program will run for approximately 7 months. During the program participants must remain in good standing in their current position.

How do I apply?

Applying to the program will be through the submission of a CP2 application. This application poses four short-answer essay questions designed to provide insight into the candidate’s career orientation, self-knowledge, and action orientation.

Candidates submitting successful applications will be notified by Jeannine Santor and their current management.
