Amara Chean has been promoted to Actuarial Analyst II. Amara brings valuable work experience to our organization including three years at a reinsurance company prior to joining NLG full time last year. During a critical time for the team during GAAP PLAN, Amara stepped up, newly learned and executed the modeling for Indexed/Fixed Universal life and TRAD lines of business during a period of high demand on speed and quality deliverables. She is a strong teammate in understanding and digging into model results, asking thought-provoking questions, while simultaneous delivering timely information. Apart from her solid and increasing Liabilities knowledge, she also brings vital automation skills to the table as we prepare to engage deeply in process improvement.
Ritvik Jarugumilli – Actuary, Corporate Actuarial
Corey Chernofsky has been promoted to Associate Actuary. Corey has been with NLG for over 4 years, and brings lots of energy, agility, flexibility and knowledge potential to the team. Within the forecasting team he has recently increased responsibility and switched over to modeling complex company-wide Asset-Liability interactions. In his new role Corey will be responsible for centralizing, reviewing and preparing most of our modeling data before final delivery. Corey will also be required to frequently engage with internal clients to ensure quality deliverables, continued ongoing support after initial delivery, and gathering a plethora of frequently refreshed inputs for the models. He is quickly becoming the internal expert on many complex modeling methods and is very valuable to the team and has recently obtained his Fellowship designation in a very short period.
Ritvik Jarugumilli – Actuary, Corporate Actuarial
I am pleased to announce that Nicole Frey has been promoted from Associate Actuary to Actuary. Nicole has been with NLG for over 5 years. She was hired into the product development area after starting as an intern. From there Nicole has gained valuable experience through a rotation in Asset Liability Management, and a non-traditional Customer Experience role where she became a product owner. Nicole returned to product development as a manager within L&A Solutions last fall. Her broad experience and interest in continual learning has served Nicole well through her various projects. Nicole’s current focus is the development of the next generation of Living Life. In March, after attending the Fellowship Admission Course, Nicole will become our newest FSA. Cathy Shires – AVP & Actuary, L&A Solutions
Ritvik Jarugumilli has been promoted to Actuary. Ritvik has been part of NLG for over 5 years and has gained a broad level of experience ranging from Pricing, Valuation, Modeling, Asset/Liability management team and most recently successfully graduated from STI2. Since STI2, Ritvik has stepped in to assume a leadership role for the Actuarial Forecasting team. His strong relationship management skills, and his broad level of experience has served him well to further develop the team’s modeling and analytical capabilities. Under his thoughtful leadership, this team has provided various business insights to the company ranging from liquidity stress test, quarterly Stat capital forecast, GAAP plan and GAAP sensitivities.

It is with great pleasure that I announce the promotion of Alicia Lamore to Actuarial Analyst II. This promotion is in recognition of Alicia’s high-quality work as well her willingness and ability to take on a leadership role. During her time in Corporate Development, Alicia has been a valuable contributor on a wide range of projects. She played a key role in developing the new retention structure for Peak Life and was the lead actuarial resource for a financial reinsurance deal that generated $35 million of capital for National Life. Alicia has had the opportunity to present her work to several audiences, including members of Senior Management, and has done so in a very professional manner. I am pleased to announce Sophie Thorup’s promotion from Actuarial Analysist I to Actuarial Analyst II. Sophie joined the Inforce Management team 18 months ago, and she hit the ground running with a good understanding of our products and processes. Immediately, we were able to utilize her business acumen, strong analytical abilities and intellectual curiosity to improve our processes and experience studies. Sophie has worked on many of the team projects and has taken ownership of significant portions of the work done by Inforce Management. She has been able to present her work and represent Inforce Management to the senior leadership team.
