A team of 11 employees across 7 different departments – all with DMS roots – had a blast volunteering this month for the Middlesex Community Garden behind the Rumney Memorial Elementary School in Middlesex, Vermont.

The garden project was completed thanks to a grant from the Vermont Community Garden Network. It was the task of our National Life colleagues to weed and re-mulch the entire garden! They also fixed all the fence posts and replaced them with larger, taller ones. In addition, they sanded and painted some old wire wheels to turn them into tables for visitors at the garden, built two new raised garden beds, and even built a new greenhouse. As if that’s not enough, they went one step further (no pun intended!) and fixed the steps for the storage shed in the back where all the tools were kept. New gates were put on both the front and back entrances too.

Participants included:

  • Craige Lyford
  • Kathleen Webber
  • Jane Jennings
  • Kyrsten Rinker
  • Gregory Murray
  • Samantha Kemp
  • Rebecca Pecor
  • Mariah Breer
  • Brittany Houghton
  • Paige Mc Nally
  • Mallory Davis

Phew! That’s a lot of great work, y’all! Thank you.
