The Summer 2018 Internship Program is coming to an end… so join us next week for a morning of intern project presentations. A summary of each project as well as a schedule of events is listed below.

Group 1: Fraud & SIU Awareness

The Fraud & SIU Awareness team are working with NLG’s Special Investigative Unit through Jeff Johnson, Sandy Mollett, and Barbara Fitch. After doing intense surveying of targeted work areas in the company, they have calculated the fraud landscape as it currently stands at National Life. Their presentation will be full of energy and enthusiasm as it enlightens the company with our most recent types of fraud, the ways to detect them, and why it is important to keep up to date on these constantly changing forms of fraudulent activity.

Group 2: Teacher Retirement Planning Engagement Campaign

Led by Susan Jennings, the Teacher Retirement Planning Engagement Campaign team was tasked with thinking of ideas to motivate and engage teachers in retirement planning. This group will be presenting materials that can be used to interest teachers in National Life’s retirement annuities.

Group 3: Conversational Artificial Intelligence

Led by Anurakt Dixit, the Conversational Artificial Intelligence team was tasked with finding the top frequently asked questions across all departments at National Life and the right answers to them. They have been working to create a “Siri” style internal chatbot for National Life –  a personal assistant named ‘Natalie’. Their presentation will cover the work that they’ve done.

Group 4: NLG Customer Personas

Led by Nicole Frey and Girija Muraleedharan, the NLG Customer Personas team has been working with the customer experience department to segment the majority of National Life’s customers. These segments will be used internally and can provide clarity on our customers’ priorities, preferences, and financial goals. Over the past few months the team has conducted a series of interviews both internally and externally to better understand the customers that we serve. Their interactive presentation will discuss their findings.

Group 5: Unified Application

Led by Kristin Cook and Valerie Johnson, the Unified Applications team has been working to unify National Life’s life and annuity applications in order to restructure the forms and cut down on confusion by our field partners/customers. They will present a draft of the application(s) and provide any insight gained on the methodology used to come up with the new draft.

Group 6: Social Media Campaign

Project owners, Michele Granitz and Julie Bock in the people center, and Erin Hunt in marketing, wanted to know what appeals to young professionals entering the workforce as potential employees and/or customers. They want to improve National Life’s recruiting and advertising on social media platforms. A target audience and supporting data are important for effective social media marketing. The Social Media Campaign intern team conducted several online surveys of the “young professional” demographic. The team will present the survey results, recommendations for engaging young professional with social media, and content for posting on social media.

Group 7: Crowdsourcing Ideas

Led by Morgan Gold, the Crowdsourcing Ideas team has been exploring the best ways to conduct crowdsourcing competitions, identify the benefits, costs and risks of such, and finally design and execute a crowdsourced competition. Come to hear about this pilot focused on marketing indexed products.
