A few weeks ago, our CIO and member of the National Life Group Foundation board of directors, Nimesh Mehta, stopped by Equest to visit Rey, the therapy horse our Foundation funds.
Rey is a Quarter Horse Gelding who helps Equest fulfill its mission to enhance the quality of life for children and adults with diverse needs by partnering with horses to bring hope and healing through equine assisted activities and therapies. It looks like this meeting went very well!
Equine therapy takes a variety of forms, even through competition! Just take a look at our own Nichole Mitchell, who spends some of her free time competing with her horse, Chance. Last month they earned the title of Reserve Champion by dominating the Stryker Stables jump course in Charlotte, Vermont. The competition, hosted by the Vermont Hunter Jumper Association, tests the rider’s accuracy and consistency while showcasing the horse’s athleticism. Congratulations Nichole!
