The following note was sent out by Matt Frazee, SVP of Independent Distribution, announcing the promotion of Darlene Flagg:

Successful organizations don’t stand still, they proactively face the challenges of their business head on. In light of the current environment, we have both challenges and opportunities in front of us in our flow annuities business. In order to capitalize on these opportunities, we need an advocate and leader who wakes up every day thinking solely about how we grow and thrive in our K-14 educator market.

Darlene Flagg

We didn’t have to look far as we have one of the best in the business right here at National Life. We are very pleased to announce that Darlene Flagg is being promoted to Vice President, leading our 403b/457/3121 Plan business.  Darlene has over 20 years of financial services and marketing experience. Prior to joining National Life in 2015, she worked at AIG, where she last served as Vice President of Institutional Marketing. Darlene currently serves on the Women in Insurance and Financial Services (WIFS) National Board. In her position she partners to attract, educate, and develop women in financial services. She also serves as the President-Elect of the National Tax-Deferred Savings Association (NTSA). NTSA is the nation’s only independent, non-profit association dedicated to the 403(b) and 457(b) marketplace. She is also a Senatorial Member of the American Retirement Association (ARA).

In this dynamic role, Darlene will be responsible for growing our footprint in the K-14 market. Darlene will be directly responsible for our Relationship and Slot Management team led by Jacob Marley, 403b Certified Training led by Damian Adams, Platform Sales team led by Bill Aikman, and the Business Development team responsible for identifying and responding to new opportunities. Additionally, Darlene will partner directly with Marketing, Product, Operations, ESI and Government Relations to ensure that we are putting the best products in our plans, the right tools and marketing approaches in the hands of our agencies and agents, and make certain we have the highest level of service for the plans that we operate today. As part of Distribution, she will also work very closely with our field leaders on expanding our growth and recruiting strategy into different areas of the country.

Given the strategic importance of our K-12 market, Darlene is the right leader at the right time who brings expertise and passion for this market. Please join me in congratulating Darlene on her new role and well-deserved promotion.
