When Eddie Hearp began his career with National Life on May 1st of 1970 the world was a very different place – Apollo 13 had successfully returned to earth just two weeks earlier, Richard Nixon was President, and the Beatles were about to release their final album.  For the next five decades, and into 2020 however, the presence of Eddie Hearp in the National Life Group family would remain a consistent, energetic, successful and valued presence.

Eddie’s career at National Life has been a series of triumphs.  As the General Agent of the Virginia Agency from 1981 to 2003, Eddie has collected all of National Life’s major accolades including three Agency Builder Awards, two Dillon Award and the President’s Award in 1996.  Eddie has qualified for President’s Club twenty-four times, including in 2019, and has been a President’s Club Lifetime Member since 1981.  Eddie is also a Life Member of the Million Dollar Round Table and holds a CLU, a ChFC, and membership in several financial professionals’ organizations.

A proud alum of Virginia Tech, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration in 1965 and a master’s in 1966 Eddie is ‘Lifetime Golden Hokie’ and has served on multiple Virginia Tech boards and campaigns including co-chairing the Roanoke Valley Campaign Committee which raised more than $34 million in support of the Virginia Tech Campaign for Excellence.   Eddie has additionally served on the estate Planning Council for Ferrum College, Board of the American Heart Association as well as several other local and regional boards, contributing his time and experience to ‘making good’ in his community and country.

With all of his achievements, Eddie is proudest of his family.  He and his wife Dawn have two children, Todd and Shelley, and seven grandchildren.  Todd has followed in his father’s National Life footstep and is the current General Agent of the Virginia Agency.  The business and legacy that Eddie helped to build both endures and grows!

On Thursday evening, at the first ever virtual President’s Club Awards, Eddie will be honored by National Life’s senior leadership, the entire General Agent community and a wide variety of well-wishers.  Both the Home Office and the many friends and business associates that Eddie has gathered in a half century living the ‘do good be good and make good’ ethic of National Life Group will celebrate his accomplishments and continuing achievements.

Although the world has changed since 1970, what has not altered is the service and commitment that Eddie F. Hearp has delivered to clients, community and colleagues. Please join us in congratulating Eddie on this special anniversary!
