Hundreds of families living at the edge of homelessness in Miami were treated to a Super Bowl party over the weekend thanks to National Life.
While at least one of our peer companies and hundreds of others spent millions advertising during the Super Bowl or entertaining in the sky boxes at the stadium, we spent our money to Do Good.
National Life paid to serve 1,700 meals – breakfast, lunch and dinner – on Saturday and Sunday at Lotus House.
Among those who helped serve during the weekend were Oneeza Salavani, an underwriter who works for National Life remotely from Miami.
She saw in The Weekly last week that National Life was planning to help at Lotus House and she raised her hand to pitch in.
Lotus House is an innovative shelter for mothers and their children that believes in big dreams too – just like us. They believe in ending homelessness. They are “where hope blossoms.”
In addition to giving these families a place to live for a year while they are pulling their lives back together, Lotus House provides three meals a day.
But typically those meals are fairly Spartan. Lotus House told us that our sponsorship allowed them to throw a party while so much of the rest of the world was focused on the big event across town.
We were thrilled to be able to help brighten the weekend at Lotus House. And along the way we benefit with a lot of positive attention on social media for our work.
