Printer Replacement Notice

The End User Computing team has been working on a project to replace all Multi-function Printer / Copiers on both campuses with a new fleet of printers. The printers will provide more functionality and better quality than the existing printers.

Why is this being done?

Our existing fleet of Xerox printers are aging and have started to break often. We will replace this fleet with new printers at a lower total cost to NLG. The new printers will have color and black and white print / copy capabilities. In some cases, you will see existing color printers and existing printers be replaced with a single device.

The company we have chosen to work with on the replacement project is Symquest. They will be providing the following printers throughout both campuses.

What is the timeframe?

You will start seeing printers show up on the floor in both locations as soon as this week. The initial ones will be proof-of-concept devices and will not be for general public use. However, there will be more coming in the near future.  In most cases the printers will be in the same location as the previous ones. Some printers will not be replaced due to very low usage statistics that were collected by the project team.

What do I have to do?

You will need to utilize the new Global print drivers to print the new printers.  The driver will be deployed automatically for you. No installation will be required. The drivers will be called VT-FindMe-GlobalPrint and TX-FindMe-GlobalPrint. More instruction will follow on using to these printers.

The printers will utilize a software called PaperCut to managed secure printing on both campuses. Logging in for the first time is very similar to the existing Xerox environment. You will Scan your badge (CASI card) and follow the instructions using the same login credentials that you use on your endpoint.

As always if you have any issues you can put a ticket in for the DeskSide Support team and they will be happy to help.
