These past several weeks, our employees in Vermont had a great opportunity to bond together while also helping families in need this summer by volunteering to put together Literacy Kits for Hunger Free Vermont through a partnership with The United Way.
The Literacy Kits contain fun things for kids – often books and toys – and putting them together is a great way to get artsy and crafty as a team, and to have fun for a good cause. The best part is that everything came to us! We joined together in conference rooms to get crafty!
Many items were created to go along with the books to make them memorable including stick puppets, apparel items, and more!
The goal of the Kits is to eliminate stigma, encourage parents to read to their kids, reinvigorate passion for learning, and share information about the work Hunger Free Vermont is doing that can help families in need.
The Kits that we made have been distributed at summer meal sites primarily in Washington County between now and when school starts up again in the last week of August.
Due to the popularity of this volunteer event, we’ll definitely be doing it again…so stay tuned!
A HUGE thanks to everyone who participated! It was a great way to do good.
