Move Your Way is a promotional campaign for the second edition of the Physical Activity Guidelines for Americans. The goal is to help people live healthier lives through increased physical activity.
Over the coming weeks, we’ll be featuring some tips and guidelines on how you can work towards successfully achieving your fitness goals.
This week: Recommendations for adults and youth ages 3 through 17
- Preschool-aged children should be active throughout the day to enhance growth and development; adults caring for children 3-5 should encourage active play aiming for at least 3 hours per day.
- Youth ages 6 through 17: at least 60 minutes of moderate-to-vigorous activity per day plus activities such as climbing on playground equipment or jumping rope to make muscles and bones strong.
- Adults: at least 150 to 300 minutes of moderate-intensity aerobic activity, like brisk walking or fast dancing, each week, and muscle-strengthening activity 2 days per week.
