Our fall volunteer initiative got under way this week with a big showing at the North Texas Food Bank and another at the Central Vermont Habitat for Humanity.

Those are a couple of the nonprofits where we are dispatching our Do Good volunteers to help us live our cause in our communities.

We’ve set a goal of using at least 700 of our paid time off volunteer hours over the next month.

We’ve got a new “Volunteer Time Tracker” on National Life Today that’s both keeping a count on how we’re doing toward that goal and giving us a simpler way to record our hours.

The time tracker is intended to help us account for how well we are achieving our mission to serve the community. It is not designed to replace the UltiPro time management application for hourly employees. That’s part of payroll and you still need to track hours there.

But the time tracker is a fun new way for us to focus attention on our volunteer initiatives.

The National Life Foundation is keeping an eye on the time tracker and will choose from among those of us who use all of our 40 hours of volunteer time this year. Donations will be made to the charities of the winners.
