Reinsurance plays an important role in supporting National Life’s growth. This position is responsible for the review, implementation, and administration of reinsurance agreements for all lines of business. The incumbent also will be involved in a diverse range of reinsurance-related projects. These core responsibilities and projects require working across functional lines. This position requires attention to detail, ability to meet production deadlines, and an understanding of the financial impact of reinsurance.
Key Responsibilities:
Manages all aspects of reinsurance administration
- Assists in negotiation of new reinsurance agreements. Reviews and provides feedback regarding impact of those agreements on reinsurance administration.
- Supports growth through the ability to handle innovative and complex reinsurance agreements.
- Supervises staff of two Reinsurance Analysts. Leads team to strive for excellence.
- Identifies areas of potential operational/administrative concern, investigates, and takes appropriate action.
- Supports monthly and quarterly financial reporting of mortality reinsurance. Works with Corporate Accounting to see that reinsurance activity is booked to the ledger accurately and meets the financial reporting schedule.
- Leads implementation and testing of new products and reinsurance agreements within TAI, our reinsurance administration system.
- Manage and support internal and external audits as well as SOX requirements. Coordination and communication of reinsurance to business partners.
- Provides accurate information to reinsurers (claims, premiums, etc.) to maintain National Life’s reputation of providing high quality service to reinsurers.
- Works with underwriters to ensure reinsurance is placed in accordance with our agreements and within guidelines.
- Serves as reinsurance subject matter expert to CIG, particularly underwriting and claims, BIG, and FMG.
- Assists the development and preparation of KPIs for reinsurance.
- Uses KPIs to communicate financial impact of reinsurance to FMG, CIG, and BIG.
