Two employees who took advantage of National Life’s partnership with Ashford University to earn their degrees received their diplomas at a graduation ceremony this spring.
Beth Chenette of the digital team and Jeanette Hosford of the L&A solutions team both traveled to San Diego earlier this month for the ceremony.
Ashford students study remotely and many don’t actually attend graduation. Of the roughly 7,500 in the class, about 1,300 attended the ceremony.
“I was struck by how emotional of an experience it was for some people”, Beth said. “AU caters to many non-traditional learners and the military, so there are many stories of people overcoming significant life challenges to reach the milestone of graduation.”
National Life offers tuition assistance to employees who work toward a degree at Ashford.
“The opportunity that National Life offers us is extraordinary and I just couldn’t pass up the opportunity to get that higher degree,” Jeanette said. “I debated whether I wanted to study accounting, human resources, or a business degree, and I decided on the business degree to have a less specific, more rounded education.”
Jeanette earned a bachelor of arts in business administration and Beth earned a master’s of business administration with a dual specialization of Organizational Leadership and Media Management.
