An Update to The Alternative Transportation Program

Great rewards have been set up as part of National Life Group’s Alternate Transportation Program.

The program has been created to give incentives to National Life Group employees who use other means of transportation, including carpooling, vanpooling, biking, walking, and bus services.

The program is monitored by completing a monthly scorecard and incentives will be awarded after tallying the scorecards after month end. There are regular drawings for prizes and gift certificates.

The program is available to National Life Group employees only. Vendors and tenants are not eligible to participate. Employees who demonstrate consistency in smart commuting will be eligible for discounts, bus passes, gas cards, and other special awards according to the following eligibility requirements.

  • Public Transportation– You must have ridden the bus to and from work a minimum of 7 round trips (14 occurrences) per scorecard period to be eligible for a free bus pass.
  • Carpool– You must have traveled via carpool a minimum of 14 occurrences (both drivers and riders will receive incentives) per scorecard period to be eligible for a gas card. Driver and passengers must all work on NLG campuses.
  • Biking– You must have ridden your bike to work a minimum of 14 occurrences per scorecard period for a gift card.
  • Walk/Run– You must have walked or run to and from work a minimum of 14 occurrences per scorecard period to be eligible for a gift card.
  • vRide Vanpool– Create a vRide vanpool (see https://www.connectingcommuters.org/vanpool/) with a minimum of 5 people. Each person receives the same incentive as above. In addition, your vRide van will be assigned a reserved parking spot on the Montpelier campus.
  • Do More – Get More!– Each participant traveling an additional 10 occurrences (5 round trips) per scorecard period will receive a $10 gas card of their choice.
  • All participants are entered into a monthly prize drawing pool and three winners will be selected.
  • To participate, contact Megan Wright at ext. 7270, or MWright@nationallife.com.
