The Corporate Communications team got into the holiday spirit by using some of its volunteer time taking Santa into the community.

The team volunteered in a Polar Express presentation for children in Burlington, including some from the local homeless shelter.

The Vermont Children’s Trust Foundation stages Polar Express in Burlington each year. Children get the opportunity to take a train ride and then go into Union Station for a reading of the popular holiday children’s story.

At the end, Santa and Mrs. Claus emerge and present each of the children with a bell just like the one featured in the story.

National Life is a major sponsor of the event, which benefits the Children’s Trust, which takes place this weekend.

On Thursday, a special version was staged for children from the homeless shelter, as well as the YMCA and a local day care.

Chris Graff gamely played the part of Santa Claus for the delighted children. Beth Rusnock played Mrs. Claus and other members of the team were elves.

Many others around the company are also using company-paid volunteer time to provide labor at area nonprofits. Don’t forget to record your time in UltiPro and anyone who uses all of their volunteer time will be put into a drawing for one of five $200 contributions to their favorite charity.
