The team from Weyers McKeever Financial Partners, one of our field distribution partners in Indiana, attended a concert last Friday to kick off the annual Crystal Lake Food Pantry Community Harvest campaign.
The concert fundraiser marks the start of the fall food drive, where volunteers collect food and donations to help stock the shelves for the food pantry. National Life and Weyers McKeever partnered at the event as part of our Do Good Tour.
From now until Thanksgiving, there will be food collectors outside local grocery stores in Crystal Lake handing out lists of the food pantry’s needs.
On Thanksgiving morning, the pantry will hold a food sorting event, where volunteers help to sort the food that will be distributed to those in need.
Along with the collection points, the Crystal Lake library also waives overdue book fees, and donates the money to the food pantry.
Last year, the library and National Life, with a contribution of $500 from the National Life Foundation, were the top two donors of the drive.
Here’s a part of the thank you letter the agency received from Randy Leggee, who is on the Community Harvest committee:
“Thank you so much for your time and generosity for the concert and the fundraiser for the Crystal Lake Food pantry. I and the food pantry sincerely appreciate National Life’s fantastic donation. Your passion and commitment to this vital community program is so important. Thank you again!”
