The Do Good Tour made a stop at the Hub City Races in Crown Point, Indiana last Sunday.

Hometown Happenings and TrueWealth Advising Group teamed up to help promote reading and literacy in Northwest Indiana by encouraging participants and spectators to donate new and gently used books.

In return, they were entered into a raffle to win prizes donated by TrueWealth Advising Group.

Remote book drop off points were also set up so that books could be dropped off before or after the race.

The team has already collected 3,000 books that will be distributed to over 500 children in the surrounding area.

After all of the books are collected, the Hometown Books for Kids Café will come to life.

Special features of the Hometown Books for Kids Café will include costumed characters to assist with handing books out, storytellers that will read to the kids and snacks.

Locations for the Café will include the City Life Center in Gary, Indiana, local food pantries and Elementary Schools.

Along with the book collection, the team also presented the Crown Point Community Foundation with a $500 donation from the National Life Charitable Foundation.
