A Question For Life Insurance Awareness Month: Who do you live for?

Jessica Blumberg recently left her position on the sales desk at National Life to go  to graduate school. But before she left, she wanted to leave behind a message for each of us. As she wrote to us, September is Life Insurance Awareness Month and that’s a great time to on the importance of what we all do on a daily basis.

No matter what department you are in, you are part of the heart of this company. Whether it is agent support, customer support, operations and everywhere in between, we all play a crucial role to bring peace of mind to everyone we touch.

When I was in the field selling life insurance, it was hard for me to understand that not everyone is a client, even some people who are closest to you. And when people didn’t become my clients, the commission hit wasn’t what hurt. It was feeling helpless when those would-be clients would have qualified for an accelerated benefit rider and I offered them a product that could have alleviated that emotional and financial pain, and they didn’t take it.

At my internal role at National Life, I was depressed to find out that one of my favorite agents was fighting for his life and he did not have life insurance with living benefits. Due to his brain injury, he would have been able to accelerate his policy and protect his legacy. Instead his wife had to make a donation page. Many people do not have life insurance because they lack knowledge. They weren’t lucky enough to be protected, but my favorite agent knew and we all do, too. Every day we change peoples’ lives and protect. Why not protect ourselves and our neighbors?

It’s easy to get caught up with work, life and everything that needs to be addressed on a daily basis. By changing lives and having agents available to us at any time, we need to be proactive to protect ourselves. Maybe you have considered it but don’t think you’d qualify. We have a variety of products and ways to be insurable.

Our 2020 vision is to attract 1 million delighted customers. Why not also have a full team of protected employees?

If you don’t feel like you need insurance take the quiz.

*Quiz- If you answer yes to one of these, you need life insurance:

  • Do you have a family?
  • Does someone depend on you?
  • Do you plan to have a family one day?
  • Could you have an unforeseen emergency in the future?
  • Do you have a mortgage?
  • Do you have any debts you want to pay off?
  • Do you value financial flexibility?
  • Could you be diagnosed with chronic, critical or terminal illness?
  • Could you live longer than average in retirement?

And you may find that when you become a customer, your perspective and experience can help you become more engaged in what you do. A difficult conversation with a client may be easier knowing that you are a client, too. Going through the process of applying for life insurance can help you understand what clients go through, and may be confused by.

So, are you ready to take the next step?
