A team of National Life Do Gooders spent last Friday afternoon helping to build a recreation trail in Stowe.

Barb Fitch recruited volunteers to help on the project at the request of the Stowe Trails Partnership.

The organizers from the partnership tell us that our team not only helped to build a valuable trail, but also helped to build community in Stowe.

Here is how Evan Chismark of the Stowe Trails Partnership described the project:

“We’re building this trail in honor of Callagy Ross, daughter of Bob and Karen who are both active members of the Stowe community.  One of Bob’s employees (James Gascoyne) contacted us last year about building a trail in Callagy’s honor.  We worked with the Town of Stowe and the Rosses to identify a suitable corridor — the plan was to make this trail rugged and unique, in the same vein as Ms. Ross.  The end result is a community effort that’s not only helping the family honor their daughter, but also a project that’s helping bring the community together and continue growing the trail network.”

The volunteer committee at National Life frequently gets requests like this from community organizations and works to help find the labor to get the jobs done.
