Nick Bruno, an Actuarial Analyst II in The Product Pricing and Filing Department was presented with a Kudos award for his exceptional work with the Capital Development Team.
Nick was nominated by Don Messier who worked closely with Nick. Here’s some of his nomination;
“The Capital Development team was working with external reinsurers to determine the viability of an Index Universal Life reinsurance transaction that would generate capital to support our continued sales growth.
There were only two problems. We didn’t have a forecast to generate distributable cash flows and the senior members of the actuarial team who would normally prepare the forecast had no availability.
However, there was a new analyst that seemed to have lots of potential. This new actuary was new to National Life, new to life insurance and new to Index Universal products but he had a ‘can do’ attitude and a thirst to learn.
With guidance from his manager, Cathy Shires, Nick rose to the occasion. We partnered with Nick for nearly a year and his efforts were critical to us getting across the finish line. We executed the reinsurance transaction in December and it will generate over $100 million in statutory capital benefit for National Life. Nick’s awesome ‘can do’ attitude, intellectual curiosity and professionalism are an inspiration to all.”
