Yvette D. Bright, member of the National Life Group Board of Directors, was recently selected as a 2023 Woman of Influence honoree by Pearl S. Buck International. The Woman of Influence Award honors women who follow in the footsteps of Pearl S. Buck, a Nobel and Pulitzer Prize-winning writer, activist, and humanitarian. Some past honorees include First Lady Laura Bush, Pulitzer Prize-winning writer Toni Morrison, and former president of the Philippines, Corazon Aquino.

Yvette was elected to the National Life Group board in 2017 and is the president of the Brighter Horizon Foundation whose mission is to support high school students in becoming the first in their family to pursue a college degree or an associate degree in the trades – debt free.

She retired in 2018 as executive vice president and chief operating officer of Independence Blue Cross in Philadelphia. She was the first woman of color to join the company’s C-suite and to have accountability for Commercial and Medicare lines with revenue of $6 billion.

Yvette will be celebrated at an award presentation and dinner in the fall at Pearl S. Buck International headquarters in Pennsylvania.
