Serving Proudly and Saying Thanks

When Jeff Gleason is not serving in his role as a Sr. Business Insights Analyst, he’s proudly serving his country as a Staff sergeant in the United States Army. Jeff has been so overwhelmed with the support he’s received from National Life that he presented us with a special gift that has special meaning.

We asked Jeff to tell us about its significance:

I was deployed from March 27, 2021, to March 31, 2022.  The first three months on orders were spent in Texas and Oklahoma for mobilization and training and on June 30th, we departed for the Middle East.  I was based in Northern Iraq where I stayed from early July 2021 to mid-March 2022.  Not long after getting on the ground, I learned about the practice of flying American flags over the base in honor of those supporting us back home.  I decided to fly these flags on important dates such as birthdays, anniversaries, and even a wedding day.

I have been in the military my whole time at National Life and have always appreciated the support I received from the company and my teammates.  The support I was given on this deployment was no exception and I felt that flying this flag on National Life’s birthday would be a small gesture to show my appreciation.  There are many ways that companies are required by law to protect military employees, but I have always seen National Life go above and beyond in its support which clearly demonstrates the commitment to its military employees.

I have greatly appreciated the support I have received upon my return, and it has been a pleasure to reconnect with teammates, most of whom I haven’t seen since early 2020.  National Life has a proud tradition of having many veterans among its workforce and I am honored to be a small part of that history.  I don’t know what the future holds for my military career, but I know that National Life will support me no matter what that brings.

Thank you, Jeff and thank you to all our veterans for your service.
